The Move

by Doreen F.

I just moved into a new apartment and I was still amazed how on earth I had been able to get it at such a low price. Honestly, I didn’t care. It was the perfect apartment for me and I had decorated it very nicely and felt very much at home.

Living in a new city had its challenges, though. I knew hardly anyone and it was not that easy to make friends here. There were my colleagues, of course, but I could hardly call them friends. There were moments when I regretted transferring to my company’s subsidiary in Copenhagen, but those moments were usually short and passed quickly.

Besides, I had the cutest neighbor ever. I had only met him once in the elevator, when I came home from shopping, but he was very polite and we chatted during the ride only to find out that we were next-door neighbors. What was more, however, was that he was incredibly handsome, at least to me. He was not that tall, but taller than me. His dark brown hair was short, but not too short and he had some, well, not quite real curls, but something like that. His eyes were brown with a tad of green and he was wearing rimless glasses, which made him look very business-like and gorgeous. I did have a strong liking for men in glasses, which was an extra bonus for me. Also his dressing was very trendy, yet not boisterous. Unfortunately I hadn’t seen him at all lately, but thinking of him makes my knees go weak.

I loved my new job and I was quite busy at work so there was not that much time to think about my cute neighbor. Anyway, he might have a girlfriend, but that didn’t keep me from fantasizing.

Finally I saw him again. I had been back home visiting my family and I came home quite late on Sunday evening, as there were some delays at the airport due to heavy fog. So when I finally got out of the taxi, I was really exhausted knowing that I had to get up early on the next day since there was an important meeting with a customer in the morning. I was fumbling for the keys, when I heard someone behind me saying, “Let me get that for you” and my neighbor appeared and unlocked the door for me and held it open until I had managed to get all my bags inside. I wanted to take the elevator, but he informed me that the elevator was not working. Instead he volunteered to carry my big bag. I was really grateful. So he carried it all the way to the top floor. I didn’t know how to thank him. We stopped in front of our doors, lingering, and neither really wanting to go inside. It was only now that I realized that he was not wearing glasses. His eyes were an intense green today, so I assumed he was in contacts. I felt like a teenager, but I managed to say:

“Thank you so much for carrying my luggage, I don’t know what I would have done without your help.”

“No problem, that’s what neighbors are here for, to help each other, right.”

“Glad to hear that, but I don’t think many others would have done that. So would you come over for dinner at my place tomorrow as a compensation?”

“I’d love to, but I can’t .”

I was disappointed, but then he said, “I can’t tomorrow, but if you have time on Tuesday, I’d be more than happy to accept your invitation.”

“You won’t regret it.”

“Ok, so what time on Tuesday?”

“I don’t know. I usually get home from work at around 7, so 7.30 should be ok. Just don’t come here starving, the food might not be ready until 8, but we could have a drink before that.”

“Sounds great. I’m Luke, by the way.”

“Sophie.”

“See you on Tuesday, Sophie.”

“Night, Luke.”

I was so excited that I had a hard time falling asleep that night. But when I did I was dreaming of Luke. Gorgeous, handsome Luke.

I spent most of the next day deciding what I could cook for dinner with Luke. Eventually I settled on a salad topped with grilled goat cheese wrapped in ham. On Monday I bought all the necessary ingredients and made sure that I could leave work a little earlier on Tuesday.

When I got home on Tuesday, I quickly started preparing the food. The goat cheese would take a while, but the salad was ready in a matter of minutes. I used my grandmother’s recipe for the dressing. I really enjoyed the cooking. Luke rang my doorbell at precisely 7.30. I opened the door with a smile. I had spent half an hour putting on make-up and deciding what to wear and judging by Luke’s expression, I had made the right choice. He looked very pleased and also “interested.” I had to admit that Luke was looking his best too. He was wearing a very fashionable blue shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Combined with dark blue jeans which accentuated his body’s best features nicely. And, what was even better, he was wearing his glasses. As if he knew…

I gave him a quick tour of my apartment and then had him sit down while I added the last bits and pieces to my salad. I served the salad on brand new plates and Luke immediately made a comment about them. As we started eating I couldn’t help but sneak looks at him whenever I thought he was busy with the food. He caught my looks once or twice and smiled knowingly. We talked about each other’s jobs and he asked me how I was settling in into this new environment. From what he was saying I guessed that he didn’t have a girlfriend – how perfect!

As we finished our salads the first bottle of wine was empty as well. Luke opened another without hesitation. Fantastic! So we talked and talked and we were clearly attracted to each other. Time passed far too quickly and it was getting late too soon. Why did we have to pick Tuesday, I wondered. Both of us had to get up early in the morning, but I really didn’t want him to leave and he made no attempts to get up and go until it was way past midnight.

“I’d better go now. It was such a great evening. I hope we can repeat that soon. And next time I’ll be cooking for you.”

“Sounds great. I’m really sorry I didn’t have any dessert today; it must have slipped my mind. The thought of having you over for dinner distracted me, I guess.”

Luke leaned over and kissed me. Since I didn’t resist we got closer and kissed again, his glasses touching my cheeks ever so softly. “I’d take my glasses off, but my hands are busy” Luke said whose hands were underneath my shirt. “Don’t bother they are no problem AT ALL” I told him while my hands were unfastening his pants. We kissed for a long time and he was a fantastic kisser. So much for taking it slow, I thought. But why should we stop when it felt so good. Luke didn’t object when I led him to the bedroom. We undressed and enjoyed each other. I was glad that I had bought condoms not too long ago. They really came in handy. The very best was that all the time Luke kept wearing his glasses. Oh, he was so sexy and he really knew how to please a girl. While cooling down Luke put his arm around me and softly pulled me towards him. I put my head on his chest.

“Honestly, that was better than any dessert” Luke whispered into my ear.

“I couldn’t agree more” I replied and kissed his chest.

It was 3 am and we were getting really tired.

“I think there’s no point in going to my place now. If you don’t mind.”

“Why should I mind? There’s nothing I’d want more than falling asleep in your arms.”

We lay down more comfortably and I was about to switch off the light, when Luke moved once more and said, “Wait a second, I have to take off my glasses. Can you put them on the night stand?”

“Sure.”

He took them off and I placed them on my only nightstand. Glancing at Luke once more before I turned off the light, I knew that I was deeply in love with him. He looked so great.

“I’m close enough to see that you’re looking at me, Soph.”

“Is that a problem?”

“Not at all.” Luke kissed one of my breasts saying teasingly, “Oops, I was aiming for your head, sorry.”

“Ha-ha, I’d better turn off the light now so I have excuses to kiss you in places you don’t expect.”

“I’m very curious.”

So I turned off the light and after a long time of kissing and hugging I fell asleep listening to Luke’s steady breathing enjoying the warmth of his body.

The alarm went off far too early for me. I felt like having slept for minutes only. Luke was not too eager to get up either. We hugged and kissed some more, but by the time my alarm went off for the third time we really had to get up. However, I convinced him to shower together which made getting up suddenly very appealing. So we did shower for a long time having already decided to only have a coffee for breakfast. It was one of the best showers I ever had. Unfortunately Luke didn’t have any clean clothes. So he stood there with the towel wrapped around his waist, his hair still wet and his glasses on. He looked fantastic with his great muscular chest. Of course, he couldn’t stay like this all morning; he had to get dressed. But he took yesterday’s clothes and headed for his apartment he promised to be back for a cup of coffee before leaving for work. While he was getting changed I got dressed for work and put on some make-up to hide the lack of sleep. The coffee was ready by the time Luke came back. He was in a suit and he looked drop-dead gorgeous and I told him so.

After drinking our coffees we really had to leave so as not to be late for work. We decided to meet again in the evening and I was on cloud number 9 all day with a big smile on my face waiting for the evening to come.
